Men's Bible Study
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But His word was in mine
heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Prelude to Restoring: Part 3
|
Restoring the Fallen is a Bible study on the ministry that God inspired through Hosea. The main goal of the prophet was to
change the behavior and mindset of the Israelites in both the northern and southern kingdoms. Hosea was speaking to God’s
people to alter their actions and deeds. Prelude to Restoring is a four-part series as a foundation and setup for the book,
“Restoring the Fallen”.
King of Israel (northern tribes)
Jeroboam
1} There is one king mentioned from the northern tribe during Hosea’s ministry. This is because of the length served at this
time. How does the Bible describe Jeroboam II?
2 Kings 14:23-24
2} What actions did Jeroboam do for the country and how did God bless in spite of how the King is written in the Bible.
2 Kings 14:25-29
3} God blessed a part of Jeroboam’s reign, not due to his actions but because of a promise that was laid out through a
prophet. What can we learn from God’s response to Jeroboam for His people in the 21st century?
Kings of Judah (southern tribe)
Uzziah
4} Uzziah was 16 years old when he became King. He had family to help him with his reign and did so for 52 years. Because of
the length of his rule, it’s more likely that Hosea was referring to the end of Uzziah’s reign going into the other kings that were
listed for Judah. Describe Uzziah in the beginning of his leadership according to the Bible and some of the successes that
God helped him obtain.
2 Chronicles 26:1-15; 2 Kings 15:1-4
5} Once Uzziah had a lot of power, what actions did he commit and how was he punished?
2 Chronicles 26:16-23; 2 Kings 15:5-7
6} King Uzziah did marvelous works for the Lord but in the end became arrogant and stepped outside of the standard that
God provided. Knowing this, what can we gleam from Uzziah’s actions and apply to our lives? Remember that it does not
matter how long we’ve been in the church if in the end we become as arrogant as this King.
Jotham
7} The next King after Uzziah was his son Jotham. He reigned 16 years and took over at 25. List some of the accomplishments
of King Jotham.
2 Chronicles 27:1-9
8} Not much is given on Jotham but why is he important?
