Men's Bible Study
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But His word was in mine
heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Prelude to Restoring: Part 4
Restoring the Fallen is a Bible study on the ministry that God inspired through Hosea. The main goal of the prophet was to
change the behavior and mindset of the Israelites in both the northern and southern kingdoms. Hosea was speaking to God’s
people to alter their actions and deeds. Prelude to Restoring is a four-part series as a foundation and setup for the book,
“Restoring the Fallen”.

Kings of Judah (southern tribe)
Ahaz

1} How does the Bible describe King Ahaz and what were some of his actions?
2 Chronicles 28:1-4; 2 Kings 16:1-4

2} What event happened that hurt Judah and its people? To whom did Ahaz request for help and what was the results from that
appeal?
2 Chronicles 28:5-20; 2 Kings 16:5-9

3} In spite of all that happened what did King Ahaz do that was sinful to God and what was his reasoning?
2 Chronicles 28:21-27; 2 Kings 16:10-20

4} Ahaz had two previous relatives who did what was right for God and yet chose a different path. There are many who grow up
in church, have family who love God, and yet still go away from Him. List some reasons why people would want to follow in Ahaz’
s direction and the appeal of following in other gods or false ideals.

Hezekiah

5} In the book of Chronicles alone, there is much written on King Hezekiah. Multiple Bible studies and books can be done in
regards to his reign and what he did for the country.  In the scripture listed below, list a few of the decisions and changes that
Hezekiah made to bring God’s people back into worshipping Him.
2 Chronicles 29-30

6} What other actions did Hezekiah do that brought the people closer to God?
2 Chronicles 31

7} Who was willing to go to war with King Hezekiah and the people of Judah and what was the outcome of trying to take down
God’s people?
2 Chronicles 32:1-23; 2 Kings 18-19

8} There was a personal tragedy that Hezekiah had to overcome. What was it and describe Hezekiah after God’s deliverance.
2 Chronicles 32:24-33; 2 Kings 20

9} Like Uzziah a behavior at the end of King Hezekiah’s life was tragic and terrible in the sight of God. List some ways that a
person should take to help with not going in a similar direction as Hezekiah or Uzziah.

In case you were wondering, read more on Hezekiah’s son in 2 Chronicles 33. This is not during Hosea’s ministry but it’s
interesting to see where the inhabitants of Judah proceeded to go.
