Foundation of the Fire started as book for new people to learn about God.
There were a variety of people who wanted to know some basic information
and I tried pointing them to a few books but decided to write one myself.
While formulating the book I wanted to have a theme. Often having a
theme, parable, or metaphor helps a person remember what they have
learned. After praying, the Lord lead me to fire, light, and heat. There are
several scriptures throughout the Bible that uses fire within the text.
Because of this, fire was chosen as the theme for the book.
The cover of the book had to have fire on it. It wouldn't make sense to have a book with fire in the title and not be on
the cover. The design was created by John Jones, a friend of mine at my job. (Look below to see alternate versions
of the cover.)
Because fire was the premise then it was a matter of finding scripture that contain the word. This help formulates the
subjects inside the book. The second part of the title "using fire as a metaphor in building a relationship with God"
pretty much states what the book is about.
While writing the book I was nervous. I knew that personal spiritual growth
should continue and there was a possibility of learning something new. The
fear was writing something in the future that might contradict what is in this
book. However, after prayer and talking with family and friends, "Foundation
of the Fire" was written. There will never be a perfect time to share the word
of God, so go ahead and share. All I can do is share what knowledge I have
and as I mature then hopefully so will the books.
My favorite part of the book are the last three chapters. Originally it was never meant to be three chapters, but the
one subject "Trial by Fire" was way too long for one lesson. Something about the chapter spoke to me personally. It
takes a lot to stand up for what you believe, regardless of what people say around you. As a matter of fact, this
chapter is so influential that now another book
"The Golden Image", is a fictional novel where one of the short
stories uses the experiences of the three Hebrew boys as a base for the story.
This book allowed me to get a mention in the Visitor Magazine. It was the January 2010 edition. Click on the name of
