Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But His word was in mine
heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

The Ministry of Young Samuel

1 Samuel 2

Part 1

While we are navigating our way to various people and their ministries for God, Samuel is a special person for what he could do for the Lord. We’re only studying a brief portion of
Samuel’s ministry but this part will cover Samuel’s early start to his ministry for God. This is part 1 of 2 for the lesson.

1.) How does the Bible describe Eli’s sons?
1 Samuel 2:12

2.) Eli’s sons were ordained priests and ministers for God. Imagine if any of our current ministers were described in a similar fashion. Would they be able to be affective at doing
the job for God? What would you think if a Spiritual leader was described in a similar manner?

3.) What acts did Eli’s sons do during sacrifice and worship?
1 Samuel 2:13-17, Leviticus 3:16-17

4.) Sacrifice and offerings was a time for worship. It was during this time that Eli’s sons were cruel to the people and forced the community to sin against God. Why do you believe
Eli’s sons would command this type of behavior? What would bring someone to go this far with worship?

5.) Despite the bad examples that were before him, how did Samuel work in the temple and what did the Lord do for Hannah?
1 Samuel 2:18-21

6.) We often use the examples of others as a reason to do the wrong thing. What behavior can we learn from Samuel and how do we apply it to our work?

7.) What was the Lord’s message to Eli?
1 Samuel 2:27-36

8.) Sometimes, we believe that if I’m in church then God will always honor my work. What can we learn from the message that God gave Eli? What if God said to the church the
message that was conveyed to Eli?
