| The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation will be receiving proceeds from the novel, Repeat Offender. This organization is unique and different, and that is why they were chosen. Something about them helping a rare and yet important disease was intriguing. We never think about our Mitochondria and to be honest many people do not even know what they are. However, when that goes bad, so will your ability to metabolize and have the energy for life. The UMDF is a great charity who is trying to spread the word regarding this disease. They even have a nationally known spokesperson on their site, Jack Black. The mitochondria are an organelle in your cell. It helps with giving the cells in your body energy and of course thereby giving you energy. This can be found in a variety of cells in your body and when this goes down it means that your cells will not have the necessary energy to perform their duties. This disease is something most people never consider but should watch out for. On the UMDF site, please look at the signs to watch out for and some of the means that this can happen to you. It’ s important to learn all you can have a productive life and get the proper treatment for the correct ailment. |
